Quick answer

Pool deck contractors in Fort Liberty, NC pour for the houses around the post, renamed Fort Bragg in 2025. Your permit comes from Spring Lake, Fayetteville or the county, never the gate. Fayetteville Concrete Pros, a contractor for the off-post side, prices slabs at $8 to $14 per sq ft, with a free written estimate after we see the yard.

Pool deck contractors in Fort Liberty: same neighborhoods, newer name

The Army's own release, dated February 14, 2025, reads "Fort Liberty is renamed Fort Bragg, effective immediately." The new name honors Pfc. Roland L. Bragg, a World War II soldier, and the post held its redesignation ceremony on March 7, 2025. We keep the 2023 name in this page's title so you can find it, and use the current one in the text.

As a contractor, what we pour is the off-post side: pool decks and surrounds in the back yards of the neighborhoods and towns that border the post, from north Fayetteville to Spring Lake. The installation covers more than 251 square miles across Cumberland, Hoke and Harnett counties. So the line that matters to your slab isn't the gate. It's the town or county line your lot sits on. At the estimate we walk the yard from the street to the shell and write down what we see: the access route, the grade, the fence line and where the water goes.

Spring Lake, Fayetteville or the county: which desk reads your plan

The post isn't the permitting office for a homeowner's yard. Three neighbors are. The Spring Lake Inspections Department enforces the North Carolina building codes inside town limits and issues permits for accessory structures, swimming pools and decks included. Wikipedia notes that Spring Lake's limits take in parts of the post, so a lot near the gate can still be a town lot. Inside Fayetteville, Permitting and Inspections is the desk. Outside any town, Cumberland County Planning and Inspections takes it.

The land also reaches into Hoke and Harnett counties, so a lot on that side answers to Hoke County Building Inspections or Harnett County Central Permitting instead. Fayetteville's permit page doesn't say whether plain flatwork needs a building permit and sends those questions to its Construction Liaison, so ask before you assume. Our permit guide lines the offices up side by side. Get the answer before a pour date goes on the calendar.

We price a pool deck by the square foot. A broom or knockdown finish runs $8 to $14 per sq ft, so a 600 to 800 sq ft surround comes to $4,800 to $11,200. Stamped runs $12 to $20.

JobSizePer sq ftWhat it comes to
Small plunge or spa surround450 sq ft$8 to $14$3,600 to $6,300
Standard surround650 sq ft$8 to $14$5,200 to $9,100
Surround with a patio edge800 sq ft$8 to $14$6,400 to $11,200
Stamped surround500 sq ft$12 to $20$6,000 to $10,000

Tear-out of an old slab, truck or pump access, color and the permit office's timing can move your total. Every price is confirmed in a free written estimate after we see the yard.

Planning a pour around orders, a move or a landlord

If orders or a move are on the calendar, work it in this order. The permit office comes first, because it sets the clock. Next comes a pour date, which depends on the builder's schedule and the weather. Last are the days new concrete needs before anyone uses it. We write each step into the estimate, so you can see what has to happen before the movers show up.

As concrete pool deck contractors, we don't promise a pour week until the permit answer is in. The same goes for the shell. If the builder hasn't set the coping, the surround can't be finished to it. Tell us who is doing what and when, and we build the date around those answers, not around a guess.

Renting changes the first question. A new slab is a lasting change to someone else's property, so the owner or property manager has to say yes before a form goes in the ground. Get that approval in writing and send it along with your estimate request. We itemize the estimate, so a landlord can read what gets poured, how big it is and what comes out first if an old slab is in the way.

Bragg Boulevard and Haymount: ask about the historic overlay first

Wikipedia places the post and Pope Army Airfield in the northern part of Fayetteville. Bragg Boulevard, a named city street, bounds the Haymount Historic District, which the National Register of Historic Places listed in 1983. National Register status isn't a local rule. What does carry weight is the city's Historic Resources Commission, which reviews exterior changes inside the local historic districts and landmark properties through a Certificate of Appropriateness.

Whether a back-lot slab needs that review isn't spelled out on the city's pages. So call City Planning with your address, and ask before you fall for a pattern or a color. If the answer is yes, we'll match the finish and the layout to the house, and put it on paper first, so a reviewer sees what you're asking for. If the answer is no, you've lost a phone call and gained a clear path.

Sandhills sand under the slab: pack the base, watch the edge

USDA's survey for Cumberland County lists Wagram, Johnston, Candor, Blaney, Autryville and Lakeland among its largest soil components, and several of those are sand. Candor runs about 96 percent sand in its upper layers and Lakeland about 94. Johnston is the exception: it's a creek-bottom soil. That matters here, because a creek-bottom yard needs a different base than a ridge. We can't read your yard from a map, so we look at the ground at the estimate.

Sand drains fast and compacts differently from clay, so a deck is only as good as the base under it. We compact in lifts, check the grade and set the forms before we call the truck. The edge is the weak spot. Runoff that pours off a slab edge can wash sand out from underneath, so we pack the shoulder and point the fall at a place the water can go. We also note where downspouts and sprinkler lines empty, because water dumped at a slab edge undercuts it faster than rain does. The NRCS description of Lakeland calls it excessively drained with rapid to very rapid permeability, which is why water vanishes into the lawn and then goes looking for a way out at your edge.

What to have ready before we walk your yard

When you compare pool deck contractors in Fort Liberty, ask each one to put the slope, the joints, the finish and the base in writing. Ours is free and itemized before any work begins, and we're insured and locally owned. Have these ready and the estimate goes faster:

  • Your address and which town or county it falls under, or a photo of your tax bill if you're not sure.
  • The builder's name and where the coping stands.
  • Your survey, so we can see lot lines and the house wall.
  • Written approval from the owner if you rent.
  • The date you need the yard back, so we can tell you what's realistic.
  • Gate width and what the route from the street to the shell looks like.
  • Where your downspouts, hose bibs and buried lines run.

  • David and his team are really hard workers. They did an excellent job at my house. They had to do a front pathway/stairwell. I showed him what I wanted and next day they were here with machines at 8am working. They worked 8-8pm until the framing and shaping was finished. The cement job took them 5-6hrs with staining and stamping. Really fast, good job, great Price and good people. I recommend them to anyone.

  • We recently hired Fayetteville Concrete Professionals to pour a new driveway and walkway for our home, and I genuinely couldn’t be happier with the entire experience. From the first phone call, their team was professional, down-to-earth, and clearly knew their craft. They showed up on time, answered every question I had (even the ones I thought were silly), and delivered results that totally exceeded our expectations. The crew worked hard, kept the area clean, and made sure everything was level and polished β€” they even helped us think through some design choices we hadn’t considered. It’s rare these days to find concrete contractors in Fayetteville who truly take pride in their work and treat your project like it’s their own home. If you’re comparing concrete companies in Fayetteville, save yourself the stress β€” just go with these guys. 10/10 would recommend.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do pool deck contractors in Fort Liberty work on the post itself?
This page covers the homes and businesses around the installation: neighborhoods in Fayetteville and Spring Lake, plus lots on the county side of the line. Work inside the gates isn't what we describe here. If your yard is off post, call (910) 996-0343 for a free written estimate, and tell us the address so we can check which permit office covers it.
Is the post still called Fort Liberty?
No. It carried that name from 2023 to 2025. The Army announced on February 14, 2025 that it was renamed Fort Bragg, honoring Pfc. Roland L. Bragg, and held a ceremony on March 7, 2025. We keep the older name in the page title and web address so searchers find us, and the text uses the current name.
Does Spring Lake or Fayetteville permit a backyard slab near the post?
It depends on which side of the town line your lot sits. Spring Lake's Inspections Department issues permits for accessory structures inside the town, swimming pools among them. Fayetteville's page doesn't say whether plain flatwork needs a building permit and refers those questions to its Construction Liaison. Outside both, Cumberland County takes it. Check the address with the office before you sign anything.
My lot is on the Hoke or Harnett side of the post. Who do I call?
Hoke County Building Inspections for the Hoke side, and Harnett County Central Permitting for the Harnett side. Harnett publishes a Storage Building, Deck and Pool Permit Guide, and Hoke says its permit cost doubles when work begins without the required permit. Either way, ask first, then tell us what you learned and we'll price the job to match.
I rent near the gate. Can you pour a slab for me?
We can price it, but the owner has to approve it first. A new slab is a lasting change to someone else's property, so get the owner or property manager to say yes in writing. Send that along with your address and the builder's plan, and we'll write an itemized estimate the landlord can read, including what comes out if there's an old slab.
How do I fit a surround in before a move?
Start with the permit office, because it sets the pace, then lock the builder's date, then book ours. We write each step into the estimate, and we won't promise a pour week before the permit answer is in. Give us your move date at the estimate, and we'll tell you honestly whether the order of steps fits inside it.
