Fort Bragg, called Fort Liberty from 2023 to 2025: which name your paperwork should use

The Army post took the name Fort Liberty in 2023 and went back to Fort Bragg in February 2025. The Army's own release says the post is renamed, effective immediately, and that updating signs and documents would be phased. The new name honors Pfc. Roland L. Bragg, a World War II soldier who earned the Silver Star and Purple Heart. You'll still see both names on mail, listings and old maps.

Whether your block is in one is a question for the city's Historic Preservation staff, so ask before you plan anything visible from the street.
